Hello and Welcome to Beckys Blog! The place to find out what is happening in the world of Utterly Horses.
Other Ways to Follow Utterly Horses:
10th March 2010:
Evening! Its very cold and dark here in the office this evening, although, that could be that its just after 7pm and i'm still here. Haha. Well, i have a good excuse as i have lots of things i wanted to tell you!! Firstly, some new product news.
Some of the new 2010 Papo Horses are now in stock and they are looking for new homes! New horses include Maya the Friesian Mare (right) and her foal Onyx and the Lusitano horse Diego and Sombra his foal. Don't forget to look at the other 2010 coming soon Papo Horses in our photo album on facebook here. There are some fantastic new additions including more Gypsy Cobs, Arabians, Appaloosas and Thoroughbreds. One of the best products we have seen all year arrived in the office this week. The Horse and Pony Stable Mural is absolutely fantastic. Ever wanted a whole stable in your bedroom? Well, now you can thanks to this totally and utterly fantastic mural! We love this item and its definately going to cover one of our walls when the office has a makeover! This "utterly horses" mural has horses everywhere you look and is a great alternative to normal wallpaper or expensive hand painted murals for bedrooms, nurserys or playrooms. This mural measures 10ft x 8ft but the great thing about it is that is comes in 12 pieces allowing you to customise the size of the mural if required (i.e take away some of the pieces to create a smaller mural or you could always split the mural into two smaller ones). The possibilities are endless! What is the mural made of you may ask. Well, the mural is a wallpaper backed, wipeable wall covering and can be applied to any clean wall using wallpaper paste. It comes rolled up similar to wallpaper and includes fitting instructions. Pictures and more details can be found here.
Lastly, the exciting bit of news for this evening. Calling all Pony Parade lovers! We decided to run a promotion for the Pony Parade range for a change and so during March, you can rug your models for FREE!! When you purchase FOUR individual Pony Parade Horses (Schleich, Papo and Safari Models) during March we will give you a FREE set of 3 Pony Parade Rugs that have each been hand-made by the Utterly Horses team. Created from snazzy materiald, each rug just slips over your models head for easy rugging up and come in a rainbow of funky colours. All individual Schleich, Papo and Safari models are included in this promotion and full details can be found here.
Right, i better escape the office now. I think its going to be an evening infront of the TV. Man Utd are playing tonight and even though i haven't a clue about football, my footy mad husband has influenced me somehow and so i think i'm going to watch it and cheer them on. Saying that, could it be the football or simply because David Beckham is playing tonight? Hmm. Haha.
(who said she would never ever date anyone who liked football! Haha, that went very wrong for the better!). 5th March 2010:
Its Friday! Today we have launched an promotion that duri ng March (5th- 14th March 2010), you can rug your Classic Horses for FREE!When you purchase a Classic Horse (Breyer Classics and Safari Models) during March we will give you a FREE classic scale rug that has been hand-made by the Utterly Horses team. Each blanket features an unique slip on design and can be used around the stableyard or as a smart travel rug when traveling to shows and competitions. You can also use it as an underrug when the weather gets even colder. Brrr! PLUS! There is no limit to the amount of rugs you can have. For example, if you purchase 3 Classic models you will receive three rugs- we will do out best to send three different colours of this is the case! Colours and textures of the rugs may vary but it will be a rug that your model will love either way. Breyer individual horses, sets, Saddle Club Classic Horses and Safari Models are eligible for this promotion. Visit this page to find out more details.
Rug up your models for free!

3rd March 2010:
Hellooooooo! I'm back! Back but under a different name!! :) Wow. A lot has happened over the last few weeks and i can honestly say that i'm still beaming! Today i have been going through some of the thousand-odd wedding pictures, and one is shown right, taken by Tina (thanks Tina!). Of course as soon as i get more pictures and get around to getting them all online, i will let you all know. I'm sure some of you would love to see! As you can just see in the picture, which shows us just as the ceremony has finished, the wedding "theme" was purple (my favourite and utterly colour) and i went for a traditional wedding dress. The strapless dress was covered in handbeaded panels together with a long train, and then i had a veil too. It was certaintely a bit different to work clothes that is usually the attire here in the office! How was the day? Oh gosh, it was so magical! It went fast so quickly but wow, it was absolutely totally and utterly fantastic! Marrying the one you love was without doubt the best thing about the day but there were so many things that were special and so many memories to treasure. We got married in the castle keep by hundreds of candles with all our close friends and family there, watching over everything. We then had the reception in a Georgian Manor house and marquee, and then danced, celebrated and rocked the night away until the small hours! We were a little non-traditional when it came to entertainment at the reception as we had a Wii, together with the Beatles Rockband game and our "first dance" was a guitar and drums duet on the game!! We are both big kids at heart! Many people will be wondering if i had a horse and carriage to take me to the wedding and the answer is no, i went for a different kind of horse power in the form of a beautiful vintage Rolls Royce that was without doubt more behaved than a pair in harness! Horsey themed items did make it into the wedding though (how couldn't they?!) in the form of knights for all the guests that attended (thanks Gary!). Anyway, before i bore you all to death about the best day of my life and before i get extra soppy, i will tell you about some exciting model news, Christmas models to be exact!
The Breyer Christmas Horse for this year is “Jewel”. Jewel is a buckskin horse with black mane and tail, decorated in glimmering crystal beading, with a stunning saddle and saddle drape in hues of holiday green trimmed in gold. He’s adorned from muzzle to tail in sparkling jewels that catch the light for extra sparkle and sits on a decorated gold-tone base. Produced on the “Mon Gamin”, Showjumping Warmblood Mould, sculpted by Susan Carlton Sifton, Jewel is the 14th horse in Breyer’s holiday series and will be available towards the end of the year. Accompanying Jewel in this years line-up are many ornaments, two in particular are the Artists Signature and the Beautiful Breeds Ornaments. The hand blown glass Artists Signature Ornament features Secretariat on one side and a bay Thoroughbred on the reverse. The bisque porcelain Beautiful Breed ornament features a Welsh Pony for this years season. He is a dark dapple grey and wears a halter decorated with red bows for the holiday season. Pictures and full details of all of the Christmas items will be released as soon as possible.
Well, i better get back to work. To much time looking at wedding pictures and not doing proper work. Tut tut! Haha! Talk to you all soon
Becky :) (or Mrs H! A big HELLO and I Love you to Mr H. xXx). 18th February 2010: Hello All! Just a little note before i set off to our wedding venue to get everything ready. I'm soooo excited! Please remember that since all of the Utterly Horses Team will be attending the wedding, that our office will be closed for telephone orders on the 18th & 19th February 2010. Our website will be fully operational and all orders submitted during this time will be despatched on Monday 22nd February 2010. Of course, piccies from the big day will be posted as soon as possible- keep an eye out here for more details. See you all very soon.
Becky :)
16th February 2010:
Afternoon. Just a little bit of news today. The first Winter models have been seen online... and the surprise is that he is spotty! He is a black leopard appaloosa, painted in the same pattern as #1332 Matrix, the Collectors Edition from 2008. This model can be obtained by collecting the three other models in the series- Spring, Summer and Autumn. Here is a link to a picture of this model. Becky
15th February 2010: Morning! Its Monday. Gosh, i haven't been this excited about a Monday for ages. Why may you ask? Well, its only a few days until my Wedding! And.... in celebration of this, we are giving away FREE goody bags with all orders over £20.
Each goody bags has lots of exciting things to help you make and create different items. There are horse stickers which you can use for decorating your books and folders (or maybe some earrings. There is a legendary story that Becky made some clip-on dangly earrings from these stickers for a black tie awards ceremony! They were a big hit by the way!) A Thelwell Pencil, Pen and Horse Eraser and also a multi-coloured pencil and sharpener. Why not have a go at drawing horses or maybe write a short horse story? The best way to have a go at drawing horses is use your model horses. Try sketching one of your favourite models and see where your creative side takes you. Also included in the cotton bag, which all your items come safely enclosed within and is a great storage idea for your model's bits and pieces, is an exclusive Utterly Horses button badge. Never released before, this badge is limited and will only be available in this goody bag. Click here for more details.
Also, please note that since all of the Utterly Horses Team will be attending the wedding, that our office will be closed for telephone orders on the 18th & 19th February 2010. Our website will be fully operational and all orders submitted during this time will be despatched on the 22nd February 2010. Of course, piccies from the big day will be posted as soon as possible- keep an eye out here for more details.
Becky (who can you tell is soooooo excited!)
9th February 2010:
Afternoon! Brrr, its chilly in our office today. I must apologise in advance for any spelling mistakes...! I'm wearing gloves and trying to tap the right keys doesn't always go to plan! One model i have been meaning to share with you is Fleetstreet Max, a new Breyer Traditional Model. The odd thing about this model is it seems that the UK is the first to get him but he is not a UK special run. Odd. He is a very handsome Quarter Horse produced on the Zippo Pine Bar mould. He is based on Fleetstreet Max, a unique paint horse that holds the record for the most World Championships in the history of the American Paint Horse Association. Fleetstreet Max excels in Western Pleasure and Working Hunter classes and can even do one tempe changes (or flying lead changes as they are also known, every stride! Click here to read more about this model.
Several other exciting items that we have in stock at the moment are a "Paint your Own" Jump and a gigantic wall mural. Check out these items in our New Products section.
In Becky news, the BIG day is getting closer. 240 hours to be precise. Haha. A little hint is that there is going to be a little celebration online so keep an eye on the website for something appearing towards the end of the week (hint hint!). What could we be up to?!
Becky :)
28th January 2010:
Morning! Wow, what a week it has been. We have had lots of deliveries this week and our website is looking near enough back to normal, which is good to see. The new 2010 Breyer Traditional models are gorgeous! If you have not seen which models we have in stock at the moment, click here to take a peak. I'm hoping over the next few weeks to break models out of their boxes so i can take pictures from all angles, which will then be posted onto each product page, so keep checking back.
One interesting development this year is the Breyer 2010 Treasure Hunt. There are three models in this years "hunt", Spring- a chestnut Heavy, Summer- a paint Heavy horse and Autumn (or Fall)- a bay Shire. There are two varations that each model comes in too- glossy and matt. The matt ones are without varnish, as in they are not shiny, whereas the gloss ones make them look like china models. So, in theory, there are two sets of models available in the Treasure hunt this year- one set in matt and one set in glossy. The interesting question would be that if you collected three models of different finishes, so say you had two glossy models and one matt, and then you sent off for the fourth "Winter" model, would that final model be matt or glossy? Hmm, i think we are going to have to test the theory!!
One other model that has caught our eye (and one that everyone seems to want to take home with them here in UH HQ!) is O'learys Irish Diamond. He is a huge model and is a lovely colour. He even has a pink nose too! I think we have plans for this model. I'm thinking something driving wise, or maybe we will make him into a cavalry horse, a trumpeters horse. Now, there's an idea!!
The Classic range also had a good boost with the new Saddle Club and accessory sets. All of the Saddle Club sets come with a horse, rider and tack. Our favourite set has to be the "Tacking Up" set as it comes with a horse, bridle, saddle, rug and a tack box. A great addition to an existing collection or if you wanted a set without a rider. One thing we are on the hunt for this year though is Classic scale halters and bridle on their own. Its on our "wishlist"- well, that or we will have to start getting creative and make our own. :)
Hmm, what else has been happening. We are working on the 2010/11 UH Catalogue. You can reserve your copy of the upcoming catalogue by using the " request a catalogue" link on the website but don't forget that if you have already ordered from us in the past, you will automatically receive one. I'll let you know how things progress on this one! A Utterlysaurus catalogue is also in the works as in several over publications. Its busy busy busy design wise!!
In Becky news, the wedding is drawing even closer, 23 days to be exact! My dress is sorted, the (cup)cakes are ordered, the evening entertainment has been figured out and we all know what we are doing- whats missing?! We were having a laugh and joke in the office the other day saying how a wedding is much like an award ceremony, although in the end we decided that a wedding is much more important. Even so, in both cases you have a fancy frock, you get your hair done, nails polished. And you know the sillyiest thing, is that for both i have to practice walking in heels before hand!!
Becky :)
20th January 2010:

Bye for now!
Becky :)
8th January 2010: Hello All! Happy New Year! I hope you had a great Christmas and have been enjoying the snow. Its bitterly cold here in the office today but the team are wrapped up in mountains of layers in an effort to try and keep warm. We are going to venture out to make a snowman (or should that be a snow-horse?) later!
Christmas seems to have flown past so quickly although from looking in our stockroom it certainely happened. We are currently awaiting deliveries of more items but unfortunately the snow has delayed these, so fingers crossed they will arrive soon. The good news is that we now know most of the 2010 items. In the Breyer range, we see 16 new Traditional Horses join the collection, 3 of which are new moulds. The new moulds are: Esprit- a dapple grey Spanish type horse, Justadream- a Chestnut Arabian Mare and Bet Yer Blue Boons, a red roan Quarter Horse. Pictures of the new moulds can be found here. In the Classic range, we have a new Classic Three Horse Stable and three new Horse and Rider Sets. See the new Classics here. The Stablemates range features 6 new moulds- a Dressage, Driving, Endurance, Para Dressage, Reining and Vaulting, in addition to three new playsets. Pictures and full details- click here!
The Pony Parade collection sees lots of new arrivals too. Schleich have 12 new moulds (!). The Black Forest Family, Shetland Stallion, Lustiano Stallion, Friesian Stallion, Andualsian Mare and Foal, Clydesdale Stallion and a Clydesdale Foal. Safari have three new products we know about at the moment- an new mould Icelandic Horse, Dressage Horse and Rider and a Gypsy Vanner and Rider. Oh, yes, and Schleich have some fantastic pony items that will be available towards the end of the year a Pony Riding Set and a Pony Carriage. To view the new Pony Parade items click here.

I n addition to the new items, we have found out this morning that we are getting some of the Breyer Saddle Club series. Lisa, Stevie and Carole, the heroines of The Saddle Club television series, are learning about life and riding at Pine Hollow Stables, where they share adventures with their equine friends Prancer, Belle and Starlight. In the series, based on the books written by Bonnie Bryant, they remain true to what brought them together: their love of horses.Due in Late January, nine Breyer sets featuring the horses and riders of the Saddle Club series will be available from Utterly Horses. To view the range, please click here.
In Becky News, i get married in just over 6 weeks! Crumbs! The planning is coming along nicely and i even managed to find a gorgeous dress last week. It was the second dress i tried on and i knew it was "the one" when i looked in the mirror. Its beautiful! Details of the dress are being kept top secret at the moment.. only three people know! I will post piccies as soon as i can. Fingers crossed the groom will like it though!! At the moment i have lists and lists of things to do from flowers to menu cards, to organising transport to evening entertainment. I have to admit organising a wedding its pretty easy compared to a day in the life of Utterly Horses! Perhaps i should start Utterly Weddings? Hmm.. now there is a thought. Maybe one for 2011?
Becky :)
20th December 2009: Hello all. Brrr! Its freezing in the office today. Its been under the cover of a blanket of snow for the last few days and its become rather like a big fridge. I have to admit i'm having trouble moving today as i have so many clothes on!! Today i'm in the office catching on some bits and doing website updates. Our last order date for Christmas has now passed and any orders placed now will not be guaranteed for Christmas. We are hoping to get some orders despatched tomorrow, weather permitting but orders placed between the 21st December- 4th January 2010 will not be despatched until our return on the 5th January 2010. During Christmas and the New Year, the Utterly Horses team will be taking a little break but our website will be fully operational and open to accept new orders whilst we are away (probably catching up on some sleep!). Keep an eye on the website though as i'm hoping to update it with previews of the 2010 Breyer and Schleich ranges. There are some amazing new models in the line-up this year!
Becky :)
18th December 2009: Due to the weather conditions, our last order date for a guaranteed Christmas Delivery is the 18th December 2009 before 12 noon. We have had heavy snow overnight and our couriers and the Royal Mail are unable to get to us to collect the parcels. Orders placed after this date, we will try and get despatched, weather and collection permitting. We are loading up our little van now to try and drive out of UH HQ to meet our couriers... i'll let you know how it goes!
Becky
12th December 2009:
Hello! Its been a while since my last newsletter as i have to admit i have been busy working away in our warehouse loading horses into their boxes to travel to their new homes. Today i have managed to make it back to my computer to tell you all about some new products that we had arrive yesterday... and just in time for the big day! Christmas!!
First up are two giftsets, Little Prince and Wild Blue. Each set comes with a softback novel and a portrait model of the horse hero featured in the book. These sets are new for 2010 and are a great gift for someone for Christmas. They are bound not to have either model in their collection (as yet!). We have three new Stablemates arrives in the form of a Cherry Creek Ranch, Country Vet Set and Horse Adventures playset. Each set is a US Special Run and so are not readily available here in the UK. It also means they are limited in quantities so please don't delay if you would like to put one of these sets under your Christmas tree. Lastly, is Breyeropoly. This Board Game will test your skill at Horse Trading and Knowledge of Breyer Horse Models! Breyer-opoly lets the players buy, trade, and sell their favourite model horses. Players choose their model horse game pieces and meet at the starting line. One roll of the dice and they're off on an equestrian adventure like no other! This is one game that will we have to break open at the UH Christmas party!! Overall, some fantastic new products that will solve many of your Christmas shopping dilemmas. To view the new arrivals, click here.
Talking of Christmas shopping, just a little reminder that our last order date for Christmas is the 21st December 2009 (at 12 noon) but we recommend ordering sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment. After this date, your order will not be guaranteed for Christmas but we will try our very best.
Well, i'm off to do a little more work and then i'm hoping to escape the office to do a little Christmas shopping of my own. Or maybe everyone would like a model horse for Christmas this year! Hehe.
Have a good weekend and talk to you all soon.
Becky :)
1st December 2009: Woooohooo! Its December! Only 24 Days to go (uses fingers to do the calculation!). Its manic here in the office with boxes practically growing legs and walking around the office. Stock is moving at an alarming rate but the good news is that we have items due back into stock this week, so the website should look a little healthier by the end of the week.
And, want to hear some 2010 Breyer news? Remember a while back i mentioned that Breyer UK will be making a model of a RDA (Riding for the Disabled) Pony to feature as a UK Special Run, in the 2010 range. Well, the pony who is going to be created is called "Strikey", a chestnut haflinger with a flaxen mane and tail. Click here to see a picture of him and read all about him. The model is going to be Traditional Scale and will be available in Early 2010 (around March we are guessing). The mould to be used is still under wraps at the moment but as soon as we know, you will know too. :)
30th November 2009:
Hello All! Hope your all okay. Its all go here in the office and Christmas is definately here. Horses are walking in and out of the warehouse every few minutes! Just a little reminder that our last order date for Christmas is the 18th December 2009.
Becky :)
24th November 2009: Hello! Just a little update for you. Customers who may have tried to contact us today will have heard the BT phone message informing them that there is a fault on our telephone line. We are currently experiencing problems with our phone and internet access as someone (or something!) tried to steal our phone cables (you cannot make these things up!). We thought that the cable had fallen down with the high winds and gales we experienced yesterday but to our surprise the BT men informed us that the cable had been cut! Madness! Anyway, orders are being despatched as usual and we hope to be back up and running as normal with our telephone and internet very shortly. Thank you for your patience and we look forward to speaking to you all soon (that and we are going to employ someone to guard our telephone cables from now on!!!)
Becky
21st November 2009:Afternoon! Yes, its Saturday and i'm in the office catching up on work. I have some exciting news to tell you today. We have three new products arrive this week: The Fun with Horses set that includes Zip the Pony, Secretariat and the new Cloud: Challenge of the Stallions Set. Click here to view the new arrivals. The Cloud set, pictured right, is a Mid Year product for 2009 that we weren't sure whether we would receive or not, hence its not featured in our Christmas catalogue. The set contains models of the equine characters from the latest episode featured on a TV Show in the USA: Firestorm, Bolder, and the 2 foals Image and Ember. A great set that has arrived just in time for Christmas.
This week also saw some out of stock products return including the Stable Cleaning Kit, the Country Lovers Playset and the Schliech Red Barn. Its nice to see the old favourites back in the range- its been a little bit odd without them!! Don't forget that next week its only 4 week until the big day and our stocks are going up and down all the time. We are down to single figures of our stables and we are expecting to run out of them by the end of the month. Eeek!
Becky :)
14th November 2009:
Hello All! Gosh, its been days since i've managed to make it to my computer- there have been hundreds of boxes in the way!! Its been a busy week (again!) and we have been working overtime to help Santa and get your orders on their way to you. Our Utterly Horses stables have been very popular. So popular in fact that our stocks of our exclusive stables are getting low and once these have been sold, we are unable to get anymore back into stock before Christmas. We recommend that if you have a UH stable on your wishlist to order one sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment. At the rate they are trotting out of our warehouse, we expect to sell out of stables before the end of November (and the new versions of the stables will not be back into stock until the early 2010). Order your stable today here.
Other than working like a maniac, i have been busy planning our wedding- outfits, rings, cakes... there is so much to think about!! Its very exciting (and a little bit scary) to think that in just over 3 months time it will be the big day. I haven't even started to look for "thee" dress yet! Hmm, i better add that to my wedding to do list!!
Catch you all later. I'm off to hunt for horses to coax into boxes ready for posting on Monday.
Becky :)
6th November 2009:
Hello! :) Its been a manic week as we have been busy packing orders for Santa. Our office has been looking like a box warehouse for the last few days!! One product that has finally arrive after weeks of waiting is Water, the 4th horse in the Ethereal Series. "Elusive and variable, water can be as soft as the morning dew, as wild and raging as the storm-tossed surf or frozen into icy crystalline beauty. Breyer's Water, painted as a magnificent dappled grey, captures those qualities in a Traditional Series model." To see pictures and more details, please click here. I've also found details of some of the Traditional models from the 2010 Breyer range. Click here to see piccies and more details. Becky :)
3rd November 2009:

Did you know that there is 56 days til Christmas today? Now, thats a scary thought! I better get cracking with my Christmas shopping! Talking of Christmas, we have a gorgeous new plush horse join our stable today. Blizzard is the largest and most elegant horse in the Breyer plush stable. With a snow white colour, he's extra soft and perfect for cuddling or for decorating the young equestrian's favorite room. Kids will also love using Blizzard as a pillow! Click here to see pictures of him. Some other scary creatures joined our Utterlysaurus herd today (i can't really say stable as i don't think dinosaurs lived in stables somehow!!). The Dimetrodon, Amargasaurus and Giganotosaurus have made their home with us- well, the Giganotosaurus has actually made him home on my desk at the moment. He's very funky! See the new arrivals here. Right, i better start hunting for my Christmas wishlist and start writing it out properly. I want to make sure i get it to Santa in plenty of time! Becky
27th October 2009:
I knew i forgot to show you something else! Here is a sneak preview of a model from the 2010 Breyer line. Pictured right, is the Breyer Model S Justadream. She is a Chestnut Arabian and the mould is the variation on the "Make a Wish" mould that featured at Breyerfest earlier this year. Pictures of that mould can be found here. The release date of this model is unconfirmed at the moment but fingers crossed we will get her into stock sooner rather than later. Read more about the story behind this model here. Becky :)
27th October 2009:
Hellooooo! The results are in! The winners of the Utterly Horses Summer Colouring Competition have been announced. Check our the results page found on the UH Competitions page or click here to find out. Congratulations to the winners and a big thank you to everyone who entered. We hope you enjoyed entering as much as we did judging it! Its been very busy here in the office and we can say that Christmas has arrived. I've very tempted to get the Christmas tree out and decorate the office to make it very festive. The Breyer Christmas Ornaments are already flying out of the door and i will have to remember to save one of each for the office Christmas tree!! In addition to work and Utterly bits and pieces, I've also been very busy myself. I'm getting married in February 2010, so its all go on the planning and organising side!! To say i'm very excited is a big understatement and the venue is a dream come true too- its a castle! Wow! Becky :)
20th October 2009:

16th October 2009 (evening!)
Hello All! I'm still here in the office, here at 5.30pm. I've been busy updating the website with new products, competitions and Christmas details. So, where to start with the news? New competitions now online are the 2009/10 Winter Colouring competition, win a set of Christmas items and also an Utterly Horses giftset. Enter HERE! The Colouring horse this time is Sheik Af Hallundbaek. He would look fabulous in his dressage attire or even as a circus horse, complete with a fancy costume with lots of plumes. Full details and entry forms can be found here. The Summer Colouring competition is being judged at the moment and results will be up shortly.
Christmas is just over 2 months away (eek!) and its is a busy time of year for Utterly Horses as we work closely with Santa to ensure he gets everything he needs for the big day! Some items in our range are limited this year, our Utterly Horses stables for example, so we ask that you order sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment and allow extra time for delivery at this busy time of the year. Our last order and posting date for Christmas is the 21st December 2009.
Better start writing my wishlist then!! Have a good weekend Becky :)
16th October 2009: Just a quick Royal Mail Update. The Royal Mail are expected to implement a nationwide strike on the 22nd and 23rd of October. We will be monitoring the situation to ensure your items get through to you as quickly and safely as possible. Please be aware that the next day service could also be affected. Fingers crossed that the service will return to normal after these dates but in the mean time its business as usual.
Becky :)
14th October 2009: Hello all! I'm Back! Back in the office and back to normal (well, after several nights of good sleep. HOYS is so tiring!) There has been so many things happen whilst i have been away, so where do i start? Hmm, one thing thats a hot topic at the moment is the Royal Mail Strikes. As you may have heard, it is possible that postal strikes will affect the Royal Mail Postal Service in the near future. These strikes will result in parcels being delayed, especially at this time of year, the run up to Christmas. Just to let you know our position on the subject. Currently, all orders placed with Utterly Horses are being despatched the same day they are ordered. We are getting them into the postal system as quickly as possible to ensure that they reach you before anything happens or at the very least they get close to you before the strike is implemented. If a national wide strike does occur, we plan to switch the majority of our deliveries over to courier services, if the order is over a certain size, to ensure they get through to you. Of course, we will let you know what we decide and/or implement as things progress and we are keeping a very close eye (and ear) to the radio and news stations at the moment! At the moment though, we are finding that the post is still getting through and delivering horses to their new homes all over the world. Its business as usual.
HOYS was fantastic, tiring but brilliant! We met so many customers there (a big hello to everyone!) and found lots of horses lovely new homes. I didn't manage to get to see a real horse in the arena which was a little bit of a shame but oh, well, thats something for next year! I did snap a couple of pictures of our stand which you might find interesting. One is a before picture and the other is an after one. It takes us around 6-8 hours to build and stock a stand from stratch- and its never as easy as you think. Its taken us years to get it just right and to be honest we are still learning! The picture left is before and the right one is the result. Can you spot Zoe in the left hand picture, she is hiding somewhere- and no, she is not in a box!!

Our Christmas catalogue returned from the printers this morning and it was still warm- hot off the press! The mini Christmas catalogue features festive items, mid year models and our giftsets as well as being a mini catalogue for our sister company, Utterlysaurus. Catalogues are being posted this week so keep an eye out for your copy dropping through your letterbox in the very near future.
There are four Utterly Horses giftsets this year- two Traditional ones, One Classic and One Pony Parade Set. Each set has been thoughtfully put together combining different items from across the Utterly Horses range to give you a unique gift and a horsey adventure in a box. Each item in the giftset comes individually boxed so its perfect to be purchased as one item and then shared amongst others, like family or friends, who can give parts of the giftset to the lucky recipient. Check out our giftsets here.
One exciting new product, that is in stock now, is the Horse Lovers Country Playset. Its a fantastic set for Christmas! It includes everything in the picture including a new look silver truck and trailer. Here is the description: "Join Veterinarian Emily on the job as she checks in on her favoirite horse Banner, a beautiful Traditional dun stock horse with blaze and two white socks! The Horse Lover's Country Vet Play set includes a striking red and silver truck and trailer, each beautifully crafted and detailed to replicate the best real horse hauling set-ups. The truck has doors that open, working rack & pinion steering, a working hood, working tailgate and hitch and room for two 8" figures in the cab. The trailer features a stall divider that lets two horses ride comfortably, padded rear chains, two back doors with Dutch openings and a working side door and hitch. The set inclues: Silver Truck, Red Trailer, Banner the Horse, Emily the Vet doll with vet bag, stethoscope, thermometer, syringe, bandages, and wormer tub of Pfizer Strongid C". This set is priced at: £99.95 and can be found here.
Its been a busy day!!

Tomorrow we are off to Miniatura, a dolls house show held at the Birmingham NEC, then we have one day back in the office and then on the Tuesday we are off to the Horse of the Year Show, held once again at the Birmingham NEC. I think i'm going to fill like a yo-yo going back and forward! Anyway, more on those shows later. First things first...!
Since its October, it now means you can pre-order the Christmas Horse for this Year, Nutcracker Prince. UH Club members were lucky enough to pre-order this model back in August but we have now opened this offer up to everyone. Nutcracker Prince is due to be in stock November/December 2009. He is a white grey Arabian, produced on the Huckleberry Bey Mould. He wears a golden bridle decorated with red and green plooms and a red blanket trimmed in green, embroidered in gold. Two decorative tree ornaments of Carla and a Nutcracker are also included which are part of his costume. Like many other years, we do have Limited Numbers of this model available, so if one is on your Christmas list, please order one sooner rather than later to be guarenteed a model when he arrives. He is sure to be very popular! We will also be getting three Christmas Ornaments into stock as well as Nutcracker Prince. These will be put onto the website as soon as i get back from HOYS, in addition to other Christmas items that we have been working on over the last few months. I don't want to spoil the surprise, so keep checking back to the website.
We are off to Miniatura tomorrow, a dolls house show held at the Birmingham NEC from the 3rd-4th October. Here you will find everything 1:12th and 1:24th scale. A perfect place to find all those accessories for your model horses! And if you want costumes and outfits for your dolls, you'll be overwhelmed with choices here!! See you there! Horse of the Year is one of the shows we look forward to the most. Its nearly a week long show, with long days for the UH team but we love meeting you all there and sharing with you all our model horses, that we all jump at the chance to go. This year we have loaded the van to the brim with model horse goodies so don't forget to drop by the stand to say hello to the team, pick up your goody bag and see what special offers we have on our stand. Stand number O5D before i forget to mention it! Club Members don't forget to bring your membership cards either for a extra treat too. See you all soon. Well, i better go and finish packing. My blog will be a little quiet during next week as i'll be away at HOYS, but i'll try and tweet some news instead. Thats if i work out how to do it from my mobile phone!! Technology huh?!
Becky :)
29th September 2009:
Afternoon! A couple of new items have been uploaded to UH.com this afternoon. One is a item that seems very elusive to try and keep in stock, its the Deluxe Wooden Horse barn for Pony Parade models. It features a unique design that opens and closes to reveal stalls and stables for your horses inside. Crafted from wood, all the doors, stalls and windows open and close and comes boxed, really to play- no construction neccessary. One side has a pair of large doors to allow your horses in and out of their stalls and a large hay loft above each row of stables where you can store all your feed and hay. We have limited quanities of this item so if one is on your Christmas wishlist, please purchase it sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment. Here is the link to the item. We now have Classic Scale Rugs available. Each rug has been hand-made by the Utterly Horses team, to keep your models warm and dust free!. Each blanket features an unique slip on design and will keep your models warm and toasty. You could use the rugs around the stableyard or as a smart travel rugs when travelling to shows and competitions. You can also use them as an underrug when the weather gets even colder. Brrr! Here is the link to the item. New Dinosaur items have also trampled in, including new tattoos. I'll have to try them out when i get the chance!! Becky 25th September 2009:

21st September 2009 (i'm going honestly!)
Well, i nearly made it out of the office. One thing i meant to mention is a new page that i've uploaded to our website that might be of interest to some people- Jobs at Utterly Horses. We're recruiting! Now i'm officially leaving the office. See you all in a few hours! Becky :) 21st September 2009 (again!)
Yes, two updates today- aren't you lucky!? Hehe. Only joking. I'm working late in the office tonight which i don't mind doing to be honest. It means i get to turn the radio up loud and have a little boogie at my desk... and you know what, i always find my fingers type faster on the keyboard when listening to something funky. Anywho, this evenings project had a prehistoric theme as i have upload four new products into our Utterlysaurus range. One item i was telling you all about the other day, the one in which you can look after your own prehistoric pet. Pictured right is the Aquasaur habitat, which comes with eggs that YOU hatch by mixing them with water. The little creature that hatches is called an Aquasaur. They're older than dinosaurs, cooler than cats and dogs and breathe through their feet!! In addition to having a prehistoric pet to look after, it is a fascinating learning experience too. I've taken one of the sets home and are current in the process of "hatching" some Aquasaurs so i'll let you know how i get on!! For a closer look at the product, click here. Three other products are from the Zipbin range- which i love! They are such a clever idea and i would have loved to have one when i was younger. The DinoPack Playpack is a strong favourite in the office. It is a backpack that looks like and is shaped like a ferocious dinosaur's head. It's the perfect way to carry your dinosaurs, animals and action figures (or anything else). And it opens to reveal a prehistoric landscape with a jungle, tar pit, volcano and a lava filled gorge! Now its the perfect place to play with those dinosaurs. And it includes a Tyrannosaurus Rex Model too! When play is done, the Playscape becomes a backpack in a zip, capturing the toys inside for easy clean up. Ideal for travelling and keeping your dinosaurs safe (and out of causing mischeif!) Click here to see all three Zipbin products in addition to lots of Dinosaurs to put into them!
Well, i think i have done enough work for today so i'm escaping before i get square eyes. That or i turn into a monster or a dinosaur for that matter!!
Becky :)
21st September 2009: Hello! What a start to the week! We have a new item in this morning. Its the Breyer Horsebox (or Cruiser) for the Classic Range of Models. Its an impressive item that we are itching to get out of the box and test out! The Classic scale horsebox, that will fit Breyer Classics, Pony Gals, Julips and GeeGees, is a combined home and stable all in one. Just check out this list of features: - 2 horse stalls with planked floors with storage for supplies underneath the floor - Tailgate that drops down to a loading plank - Roof that opens for additional access to the trailer area and a fold-out awning for shade. - Troughs that snap in for feeding and hooks that fit on the window ledges for hanging tack and other equipment - A side bin that contains 8 pieces of fencing for a corral - Two front seats with seat belts that snap closed for safety, swivel in two directions and have storage pouches - A steering wheel that slides from left to right for international trips and a 3 position license plate - Visors to block the sun, pull-down steps and adjustable side mirrors - A rear seat that slides forward and forms a bed, cup holders and a table that opens - Roof doubles as an observation deck complete with television screen and an extra fold out table, with a roof compartment that stores a ladder and deck chairs.
Its quite a list and now we can see why you can spend hours and hours playing with this Horsebox. It's fab! It would make a great present too for any model horse collector- its already on our Christmas wishlists'! Click here to see the Horse Cruiser (some in box images are shown below.

A Big thank you also to everyone who has sent in links to their Utterly Horses YouTube videos! Keep them coming, they are fab! Our favourite from todays lot of emails are videos of people unpacking a parcel from Utterly Horses. Check out these videos:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXqUMAZsmMA and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkFi6h6yLVc. Take inspiration from these authors and send us videos of your parcels and "unloading" your new models from their packaging. And we would love to see their new home and the other horses in your collection. Send them in!
One video i must mention that made me smile is this one:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKZ2_M_DTUU. Becky's Blog on YouTube that is now back on Becky's blog. Gosh, that is a little confusing! Haha! Thanks HorseshoesGirl11!
Thanks everyone! Talk to you all soon :) Becky
18th September 2009:
Golly! Its been a whole week since my last update. I do apologise. Its been a bit of a funny week but i do have lots of news to share with you! Starting with exciting things, we have a promotion running on the Utterly Horses website at the moment. Its been getting colder over the last few weeks and we feel that the models now need to be rugged. During September, you can rug your Classic Models for FREE! Thats right. I didn't write that wrong. When you purchase a Classic Horse (Breyer Classics and Safari Models) during September we will give you a FREE classic scale rug that has been hand-made by the Utterly Horses team. Each blanket features an unique slip on design and can be used around the stableyard or as a smart travel rug when travelling to shows and competitions. You can also use it as an underrug when the weather gets even colder. PLUS! The really funky thing is that there is no limit to the amount of rugs you can have. For example, if you purchase 3 Classic models you will receive three rugs. We will do out best to send three different colours of this is the case, as we have lots of rugs of different colours and textures in our warehouse. Don't forget that this offer is subject to availability and ends on the 30th September 2009 (and starts today!). I'm currently working on the Utterly Horses Christmas (eek! The "C" word) catalogue. We have lots of new Christmas ideas including our Famous Utterly Horses giftsets. The catalogue also sees the inclusion of our sister company- Utterlysaurus, who specialises in Dinosaurs (roar!!). They have some fantastic products too- my particular favourite is the one where you can grow your own prehistoric pet. And no, i'm not joking (click here to see what i mean!!). The Aquasaurs Aquarium comes with eggs for you to hatch and an habitat you can watch them grow into. I think i am going to get one and make a home for it on my desk. And of course, we will have to name him/her!
The next Magazine is in the works too. We are going for a Romany theme this time. More details as soon as i know them!
This item is another new product. I don't think we will be getting it here in the UK but i just wanted to show it you and its really funky! Its the Stablemates Tractor Play Set, below. It contains a tractor, llama, longhorn bull, horse, figure, border collie, swan and a haybale. How cool is that llama though?!

Keep an eye on our website for more details of the Ornamanets and the Breyeropoly. I'll be putting the products online shortly.
Have a great weekend! Becky :)
8th September 2009: Hello! I'm back, back from Burghley Horse Trials and happy to be back in the office! It seems weeks since i left for Burghley Horse Trials last Wednesday and the week has flown past! We had a fantastic time at the show and it was great to meet everyone. A big hello to Abby and Sophie who we met and saw nearly everyday- i hope your new models have settled in okay! :) I took a quick picture of our stand, right, and i think you will agree that we squeeeeze lots of models into a small area. Its like taking our shop on tour to be honest and that is what our permanent shop in Finchingfield is like, packed to the rafters with models. It takes us around 5 hours to set our stand up at a show like Burghley and its a bit of a memory game to try and remember where you packed a certain item in the van! Being at a show is great fun but you know the most funniest thing that we find is that we never usually see a real horse! I saw one horse warming up before the cross country phase on Saturday and thats about it. The closest i came to a horse was Butterscotch, who can be seen (just about!) in the stand picture who everyone seemed to adore although dogs were a little unsure of him!!
Becky :)
Here are a couple of other piccies i snapped at Burghley:
2nd September 2009:
Morning! I'm in the office before its even light this morning. We are off to Burghley Horse Trials in a couple of hours and i'm trying to squeeze in a little bit of work before then!! Burghley Horse Trials is an annual three day event held at Burghley House near Stamford, Lincolnshire, England. The Land Rover Freelander Burghley Horse Trial is classified by the FEI as one of the six leading three day events in the world (the others being the Badminton Horse Trials, the Rolex Kentucky Three Day, the Adelaide Horse Trials, the Luhmühlen Horse Trials and the Étoiles de Pau). Did you know that the prize for first place is currently £40,000! Wow! If you are visiting Burghley, come and find our stand in the Horse Village tent in the shopping area- and say hello! See you all soon Becky :) 28th August 2009:
Afternoon All :) Its been a bit of an arts and crafts day today: I've made a English bridle for an upcoming something. I've made many things in my time but not in this scale. I have to admit i quite pleased with it although have half the leather is still stuck to my fingers. I didn't stick my fingers together with superglue either which is very impressive (or glued a finger to my computer mouse either- i have a terrible habit of surfing and working at the same time!)
Also today we received a email asking a question about remodelling model horses. This is what is said: "When remodelling Traditional models, how long do you put them in the oven for and at what temperature?". You cannot believe how surprised i was at receiving a question like that. I so nearly fell off my chair! This is the simple answer to the question- don't do it. Please never ever put any model in the oven for any reasons. No ifs, buts or maybes the simple answer is NO. One, it is dangerous and two, the models will simple melt into a blob of plastic that will be quite hard to remove from the oven's surface. Remodelling model horses is not a simple activity as say, repainting a model. It involves using tools like hacksaws, knives and heat (i.e hot water or a heat gun) and it has a little danger involves, especially tool wise. If you want to have a go at remodelling may i suggest you have a go at something easier first, like repainting a model horse or making tack before working your way up to remaking a model, once you have some experience and confidence. Thats my advice in answer to the original question.
Gosh, thats a big enough scare for today. Oven baked Breyer models i don't think would be very tasty at all. Very plastic tasting.
Becky
21st August 2009:
Hello! How are we all. I've had a busy week working on the website for Utterlysaurus. Utterlysaurus loves everything prehistoric and dinosaur! Our product range features lots of different dinosaurs of all shapes and sizes, prehistoric animals like Woolly Mammoths in addition to a complete selection of Dinosaur Books, Dinosaur Activities, Dinosaur Partyware and even little Dinosaur favours for your party bags! If you are looking for dinosaur things, then you have found the right place! Here is a link to the website.
Today we have also had our first entry back for the Becki the Bear competition. The task was to find the most unusual place to photograph your Becki the Bear. Annabel, sent in her entry, right, where she took Becki on holiday to Land's end! Where have you taken yours?
Becky :)
14th August 2009: Good Afternoon. The last part in our Breyerfest Series is to show you what new products you will see in the Breyer range in the upcoming few months and next year. There is going to be a new mould released in 2010 (below). He he is sculpted by Kathleen Moody, being based on the original Huckleberry Bey Mould and is a very dramatic mould, with a flowing cascade of mane and tail. Also in the picture you will notice two other models. These are new mould Stablmate models that are also due to be released in 2010. One model is of an horse perfoming a dressage move and the other is a standing Quarter Horse. Colours and sculptors of the little models are unknown at the moment but if i hear anything i'll let you know.

Another new item is Breyer-o-poly, the Breyer version of the classic Monopoly game (left). It features Breyer model shaped counters, a horse themed board and the money to use during the game. This item is hopefully due to be released this year and i will keep you posted. The fourth model in the Ethereal Series was also previewed at BreyerFest, Water (right). It is a dappled grey horse, on the same mould as all the other models in the series- Earth, Fire, and Wind.

So, there you go, that was our experience of BreyerFest. We had a fantastic time, met many new friends and can't wait to go wait. Maybe next year? Hehe.
Becky :)
13th August 2009:
Hello :)
One of the last parts in our Breyerfest Series is the Swap Meet. The swap meet is an event held at the Holiday Inn North, a few miles away from the Kentucky Horse Park, where collectors "swap" or sell their models to other likeminded collectors. There were around 40 tables in the hall where the event was held and you could not see the top of any of the tables- they were covered in model horses, of all shapes, sizes and colours. We had a table at the swap meet and I took some models with me. Packing your suitcase around model horses is quite interesting, especially when there are more model horse items in your case compared to clothes!! After we had setup our table with our wares, many other vendors came over to say hello and to ask about the unusual models we had for sale, many of which were not available within the US. It was great being able to share our models with other people! I even was a little bit bad and purchased a few models at the swap meet for myself. Sometimes you just have to HAVE a model horse!!
Here are some pictures i snapped. Our table at the swap meet and models for sale on other tables:

Our table at the beginning of the Swap meet (left) and at the end (right).

Its easy to say that we had a great time at the swap meet and went home with a lighter suitcase!

12th August 2009:
Good Afternoon, I found some more pictures from the BreyerFest Live Show lurking in the bottom of one of the folders on my computer (yes, i know, its a bit of a weird place for pictures to hide!). Pictures in this batch include piccies of the prizes you could have won if you entered the live show. In addition to the honour of actually winning the class, the winner also received a special run model, which are usually glossy versions of regular runs. The overall Grand Champion received "Devil's Food", a dappled black Bluegrass Bandit and the overall Reserve Champions received "German Chocolate" a bay Appaloosa Flash model. Glossy Shasta Moon and Idocus' were awarded to section champions and reserve champions. A section is like how we split our classes here in the UK, so for example, Original Finish, Custom, Resin, Craft etc.

I also took a video of the live show whilst i was there, so surf on over to our Facebook page to have a watch. The video is just a snapshot of what its like to be there, the buzz of people waiting for their horses to be judged and the anticipation of whats going to happen in the next class! I was just so surprised at how many model horses that were there and the rarity of many of them. Some were models you only ever thought you saw in collectors guides!!
Hmm, so what else has been happening lately, apart from me sharing our Breyerfest trip. Well, today is a memorable day or the date is anyway (for me a soppy romantic!). Its a month ago today that i got engaged and you know, i haven't shown you the ring yet have i? Tada:

Its beautiful. A big little rock as i like to call it and my first diamond! I love it so much and i remember the day i went to collect it from the jewellers, i literally ran there and then was in a dazzed, smiley mode for the rest of the day! For you girlies out there, the specs are: platinum (oooo, i hear you cry!), brilliant round cut (means it makes it extra sparkley), 1/3 carat (not horse carrots but carats- the unit that measures diamonds). Just perfect. Thank you Lee.
So, there you go. A little bit of Breyerfest news and completely non-related Becky News. We have everything here at Utterly Horses!! Well, i better get back to work. Its after 5pm here in the office now so i'm going to do my favour thing and crank up the radio, start singing and get lots of work done. Lets hope i don't break any windows!! Bye for now.
Becky :)
11th August 2009: Hello! One of the events we visited at Breyerfest this year that we never visited before was the BreyerFest Live show. The hall was full of entrants who had bought hundreds of models with them, all the shapes, sizes, colours and textures. What is a Live show i hear you ask? Live Showing is one of the most enjoyable activities in the Model Horse Hobby. A "live" show is a way of showing your model horses, indoors. It is judged roughly on the same criteria of a real horse show but obviously model horses do not move! They are called live shows because you exhibit your models live and in person. A good live show is part competition, trade show, art exhibition and a chance to catch up on model news. Model Horse live shows usually offer halter and performance classes as well as Breed, colour and makes classes. Models entering the classes are judged on different criteria- each judge has different things they are looking for like- colouring, likeness to the breed, condition among a few things.
Here are some pictures we snapped at the live show.
10th August 2009: Hello, i'm back again! Sorry for not posting another part of our BreyerFest series last week. We have been plagued with power cuts after the last few days and so computer access has been intermittant. Who said that you can ever do work without a computer?! Haha. That and my list of things to do seems to be growing by the second. I swear that it multiplies itself overnight like a single celled organism!!
Other Special Run models this year included: - Cupcake, a glossy honey bay jumping pony (1050 models produced) - Buttercream, a buckskin sportshorse produced on the Idocus mould (1250 models)
- Party Time, a dapple grey porcelain shire horse (700) - Cotton Candy, a pink (!) Poodle (600)
- Sprinkles, a unusual Appaloosa on the Lady Phase mould (1150)
- Make a Wish (as above). 1350 models produced - Gala, a blue Five Gaiter model (who i also bought back with me- pictures asap!)
- Surprise, a Quarter Horse mould in different colours (1350).
Pictures of all the special runs can be found in our Photo Gallery here and on Facebook too. One of the questions i get asked alot is can you buy these models? Yes, you can, although trying to track them down can be some fun. Best places to look is on eBay.com or Model Horse Sales Pages. Here are the links to both websites- simply put Breyerfest into the search box and it will display listings for all Breyerfest themed items. Enjoy! 4th August 2009:
Hello! Today is part Five of our Breyerfest report. Shopping at BreyerFest is always one of the highlights when we visit; there is always so many models to buy. The problem we always find is that there are so many models you could buy but your suitcase is never ever big enough and we usually end up going to buy a second one! Around the arena, where the horse displays are held, there are around 20 vendors selling horse related gift items and of course model horses. This is the place to find a model you have always been looking for as there are many vintage, retired and rare models on sale. I saw some beautiful custom models too and also some very usual blue looking ones!
Also around the arena is Breyers own store. In this shop you will find regular run models, past BreyerFest models, Special Runs in addition to upcoming Mid Year Models. I found the 2009 Christmas Model: Nutcracker Prince, unpainted models, Barbaro and lots of BreyerFest models from previous years. There were also bronze Breyer horses, the Saddle Club models, mid year models and medallist ponies. Its simple to say that we didn't walk out of that store empty handed!

I've uploaded lots of pictures of our shopping experience into our Photo Gallerys - UH Photo Gallery and Facebook. Check out the pictures!

3rd August 2009 (Afternoon):
Ooo, its been manic Monday afternoon- we have lot of new horseys just arrive! After many many many months of waiting, the new Safari models have finally arrived! Woohoo! We have four new horses arrive today- Marvin, Minty, Jester and Kurt in addition to five new faces you haven't seen yet- Silk, Satin, Bandit, Shannon and Ziggy. Shannon and Ziggy are two new Classic scale horses and we have to admit that we love Ziggy- i think we'll have to have one of those as an office model!! Silk, Satin and Bandit are Pony Parade models and are a great addition to any herd, including yours. Check out all the new models online here. Ziggy is pictured right.

3rd August 2009:
Hello! Today, i'm going to show you what we saw in the main arena of the Horse park. We saw two acts whilst we were there- Stacy Westfall and Roxy and Tommie Turvey. Stacey Westfall and her horse Roxy, who was this years Breyerfest model, displayed an amazing routine that includes sliding stops and dizzying spins, all performed without the use of a bridle. It was fascinating to watch Roxy perform all these moves without any aids being given by the reins. A video of Stacy and Roxy can be found here.
Tommie Turvey and his pair of coloured horses did a fantastic routine too, especially when he was "riding" them by standing on each of the horses, one leg on the back of each horse. The horses galloped around the arena with Tommie perched on top, doing loops and circles, and even jumping over fire! Check out the pictures, below and video(s) showing a bit of the routine. Here is the link to the Tommie Turvey video.

I've uploaded the videos to Facebook and they can be viewed by clicking here. I'm also going to try and upload them to our website as soon as possible as soon as i figure out the HTML coding. I've put it somewhere, but that somewhere is obviously very safe but a little bit too well hidden!!

31st July 2009: Good Afternoon! Its Friday (woo!) and i thought i would show you pictures from the Breyer Auction. Each year Breyer produce one of pieces or very rare models that are offered through an auction. The easiest way to explain the auction is that it is like eBay but everyone who bids is in the room when it happens. There were 28 models, or lots, in total. Some were moulds that we had seen before and others were moulds that had been customized at the factory by Breyer, like the Pegasus pony (who was very very yummy indeed!) Raffle models, like "Red Velvet" and "Tiramisu" featured in the auction too, in addition to the chance to bid for one each of the models that are given to winners of the Breyerfest Live Show (Lot 2 and Lot 8). I managed to take pictures of nearly all of the models and i've uploaded these to our Photo Gallery (and Facebook) for you all to see. I must apologise for the quality of some of the piccies. They are a little bit fuzzy as my camera didn't seem to like the heat very much.
The models were auctioned off on Saturday 18th July. Unfortunately we couldn't be there for the live auction but i have found out prices of what each model went for. Here are the results:
Lot #1: Dappled Palomino Missouri Fox Trotter- $500
Lot #2: "Devils Foot" Live Show Model- $900
Lot #3: Star dappled show jumping warmblood- $850
Lot #4: Big Ben Colour Change Filagree- $700
Lot #5: Palomino Overo Paint Ruffian- £1200
Lot #6: Old Timer with Party Hat- $1000
Lot #7: Dapple Grey Arabian Mare and Bay Foal- $1650
Lot #8: Reserve Live Show Model on Flash mould- $900
Lot #9: New Mould Dapple Grey Arabian- $1400
Lot #10: Lavender Jade Lady Phase- $750

Lot #11: Palomino Glossy Proud Arab Mare- $1000
Lot #12: Champagne Tobiano National Show Horse- $750
Lot #13: Glossy Chestnut Othello- $2000
Lot #14: "Red Velvet" Raffle Model- $1200
Lot #15: "Stormy Weather" decorator Mustang- $700
Lot #16: Dappled Buckskin Smarty Jones- $1500
Lot #17: Blue Roan Overo Paint Adios- $1200
Lot #18: Dappled Bay Salinero
Lot #19: "After Party" Proud Arab Stallion- $600
Lot #20: Dappled Rose Grey Five Gaiter- $1400

Lot #21: Appaloosa Family Arab Stallion- $850
Lot #22: "Tiramisu" Sunday Raffle Model- $900
Lot #23: Paint Overo Nokota Mustang- $1000
Lot #24: "Tortuga-esque" Running Stallion- $1250
Lot #25: Glossy Bay Clydesdale Stallion- $900
Lot #26: Buckskin Tobiano Paint on new Roxy Mould- $3000
Lot #27: Glossy Chestnut Lonesome Glory- $2100
Lot #28: Pegasus Show Jumping Pony Newsworthy- $1350
By my calculations, thats a whopping $33,550, with an average of $1198 per horse! Amazing! Who would have thought that Plastic ponies could be so expensive. Hehe. Although if i had enough pennies to spare, that Chestnut Othello was fabulous! Its for a good cause too as the money raised from the auction is donated to numerous charitable auctions including the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association.
So, there you have it. We have discovered what the Live and Silent auctions were aswell as the Raffle models and where BreyerFest is actually held. Tune in on Monday to see videos of events from the main arena at BF!
Have a good weekend.
Becky :) (who is very excited as she gets to pick up her engagement ring from the jewellers tomorrow. Whoopee!)
30th July 2009:
Good Afternoon. Thanks for tuning in! One question we often get asked about Breyerfest is where it is held? BreyerFest is held in the Kentucky Horse Park in the USA; Kentucky itself is known as the horse capital of the world boasting many of the worlds greatest racetracks, where many of the famous racehorses raced.
On our first day at Breyerfest, we had to queue to get into the Horse park (although you could argue that we had found the horse park which was a good thing as my navigational skills are not one of my fortes!! We did cheat a little bit and scout out the horse park the previous day!) There were cars queued back as far as the eye could see- it was really amazing to see so many people, in one place, going to the same event.

After getting into the horse park grounds, which are huge (they occupy over 1,200 acres) and parking our car, we wander to the entrance. As we walked through the car park we spot several cars that are obviously here for Breyerfest, many of which having: "Breyerfest or Bust" painted onto the windows! There are hundreds of people queuing to get into the entrance aswell as lots of people coming out with yellow and blue bags full of models. These early bird shoppers have visited Breyers own store at Breyerfest and walked away with lots of goodies.

Most of the events at BreyerFest, like the real horse events, displays and shows are held in the main arena located within the horse park. This big building was decorated with lots of Breyer signs so it was quite impossible to get lost! Inside this building was also the Breyer store but i'll tell you what goodies were there next time.

One other picture i wanted to show you was of a camel (bottom above left), yes, i did type that right! There is always a petting zoo at BreyerFest with various animals on display and this time they had camel rides! It was really funny to watch the camel loaping around at a walk and making some very weird sounds!!
Becky (Big Pictures of all of the images above can be found in our Photo Galley here (or on our Facebook page here).
29th July 2009:
Afternoon and Welcome Back. Each day for the next few weeks, there will be pictures and features from our trip to BreyerFest posted onto my blog. I took so many pictures at BF I must show you them all somehow! I somehow took over 400 at BreyerFest alone and over 1400 (!) in total for our whole trip!! In todays segment, i am going to show you the items in the raffle and silent auction. Each year Breyer create a Special Run Raffle model which is won if your lucky ticket is drawn randomly. The raffle model which was on show when we were there was called "Red Velvet". The model was a highly detailed coloured model with fantastic details. I did buy some tickets but unfortunately didn't win a model that was lucky to travel home with me in my suitcase! Red Velvet is pictured on the right:
In addition to the raffle and auction which is held at BreyerFest each year, a Silent Auction is also held. This is where you bid silently (i.e you submit your bid amounts by writing it down, not by jumping up and down, holding a number or giving hand signals to the auctioneer). There were 14 lots in the Silent Auction and i got pictures of most of them, some of which are found below. More pictures of the lots in the Silent Auction can be found in our Photo Galley here (or on our Facebook page here).

The silent auctions items included: - "Newtown Dawn" Custom glazed porcelain Giselle model horse by Karen Gerhardt
- "Night at the Rox" a custom painted appaloosa model by Billie Campbell - Kuchi Memorabilia including a Halter, Shoe and Photographs (pictured above left) - Roxy's Halter and Roxy the Model Horse - "Special Run Spectacular" a complete set of the Breyerfest Special Runs - "Design your Own Breyer" the opportunity for Breyer to paint a model to your specifications.
I don't know how much each lot went for in the end but there were a couple of nice items i was tempted to bid on! The Special Run Spectacular lot was very very tempting and so was the fantastic "Night at the Rox" custom. Thats one of the problems with BreyerFest- there are always too many model horses that are lovely and you never have a big enough suitcase!
Thats it for todays piece of Utterly Horses at BreyerFest. Check back tomorrow for the next installment!
Becky :)
27th July 2009:
Gooooooooooooooood Afternoon. I'm BACK! Wow, it seems i've been away for ages, although i have been out of the country for nearly two weeks. Haha, maybe thats why it feels like i've been out of the office for a lifetime. And wow, what a trip i had! It was totally and utterly amazing!! I have lots of stories and pictures to share with you all- one at a time i think would be best as there are so many. To get started there are two stories i would like to share with you- one is about a new model that is due to be released soon and the other is a big piece of Becky news (sooo exciting news too!).
At Breyerfest in Kentucky (USA), a new Traditional mould was previewed. He is due to be released in 2010 and is sculpted by Kathleen Moody, being based on the Huckleberry Bey Mould. He is a very dramatic mould, with a flowing cascade of mane and tail, and a very Spanishy look to him. I wonder what colour he will be released in first? The team in the office all think he would look fabulous under tack or in some medieval tack- we can't wait to try out this theory!! Here is a picture of him below: What do you think?

Now to the big piece of Becky news. The biggest piece of news i will ever announce i think. A really, really big piece of totally and utterly exciting words-cannot-describe-news- i'm engaged! Wait a minute, i didn't say that right. I'M ENGAGED! Haha, as i wrote that a big Cheshire cat grin beamed across my face and even my fingers know it as they are currently dancing across the keyboard! Oooooo, its such a wonderful piece of news that i've wanted to share with you all and i'm so happy, i haven't stopped smiling! It was magical and so romantic- at the top of the Empire State Building, at night, with all of the New York city twinkling away below, a very special someone asked me to marry him. Gosh, it was like something out of a Hollywood movie!
I think it will be a week of celebrating in the office this week. Maybe even a drop of bubbly to accompany our chocolate cake treat this week! Haha. Well, i better sign off and escape the office before i get locked in and plus, the jetlag is still catching up. More news tomorrow though so tune in! I'm back and have lots of things to share!!
Becky :)
(who has a very very shiny, twinkly, sparkly, glittery gem on her left hand and would like to say, I love you to her very special fiancé, Lee. She's such a romantic at heart!!).
10th July 2009:
Morning! :) Gosh, i'm so excited today and are bouncing around the office like a small child. This time tomorrow i will be on a plane flying to the USA ready for Breyerfest. Before then i have the task of trying to pack. How many models can you squeeeeeze into a suitcase? I'm not sure and will find out later! At least i have a big suitcase so thats a good start. Whilst i'm away i won't be able to update my blog but i can "tweet!". Don't forget to turn into Twitter to keep up to date of whats happening. Breyerfest starts on the 17th July so tune it then! Before i go though, i thought i would give you more previews of an upcoming item models. The first is #1333 Water. This is the fourth horse, and last horse, in the Etheral Series and is a dappled grey horse. He looks gorgeous in the picture, above. The second horse is Nutcracker Prince, the 2009 Christmas Horse. He is a white grey Arabian, produced on the Huckleberry Bey Mould. He wears a golden bridle decorated with red and green plooms and a red blanket trimmed in green, embroidered in gold. Two decorative tree ornaments are also included which are part of his costume. Due to be into stock within the UK late November. Another fantastic Christmas item this year is the beautful breeds ornament. A gorgeous grey Andalusian, captured performing the Spanish Walk. Pictures to follow soon.
And lastly, to all you UH Club members and subscribers out there, don't forget to check out the special offers which are detailed in the next issue of the Model Horse Magazine. One offer is a set of four unpainted (G2) stablemates which are ready to paint (right). They include the Standardbred, Morgan, Clydesdale and Andalusian, all of which are mould that are no longer in production. This set of four horses is offered exclusively to UH Club Members and MHM subscribers. For details of how to purchase this set, please see your magazine.
Right, i better sign off and get packing. Somehow i have to coax the models to get into my suitcase in a orderly manner. Any suggestions?! Haha.
Becky :)

8th July 2009:
Good Afternoon! Its been a while since my last update and i have alot to share with you. Firstly, we're just finished the next issue of the Model Horse Magazine and this volume we are mad about Mules. We learn about what makes a Mule, who they are and what they are famous for. We also meet their closest relatives including the unusual Kiang Ass that lives in Tibet. Mules have been used throughout history as pack animals and in this issue we have an article that shows you how to recreate a pack saddle in miniature for your models. We also find out how to go about holding your first live show and discover it's not as daunting as you might first expect! In our collectors spotlight this issue, we meet Mari Kasurinen, an artist who creates My Little Pony customs based on cult icons. Becky Turner of Soltice Art studios also teaches us how to remake a model horse. This issue packs a punch! A issue also means a new club model. Meet Midget, the mischievous tricoloured Shetland Pony whose favourite game is running around his paddock as fast as possible with his equine friends! Midget is a tricoloured skewbald with chocolate points, a velvety smooth nose and a small white stripe on his face. Midget is the second in a series of models to be available through the Model Horse Magazine exclusively for Magazine subscribers and Utterly Horses Club Members. Each Breyer Stablemate Scale Midget model has been painted by hand by the Utterly Horses team making each one unique and markings will slightly vary from model to model. We have created 25 Midget models and they are available on a first come, first served basis. Each model is hand numbered and comes with a certificate, detailing his number, painted and the date he was created. If you are a club member or current subscriber, please visit the secret page on our website to purchase Midget (wink wink, nod nod! There are details of this page located in your club pack if you have forgotton). Its an exciting week as i am off to the USA this weekend, ahead of Breyerfest. Breyerfest is held in Lexington, Kentucky and this state is known as the horse capital of America. I'm going to be packing lots and lots of memory cards for my camera and plan to take vast amounts of pictures to share with you when i return. Our next magazine issue will detail the full report!! If you are attending Breyerfest don't forget to drop by the Swap meet, held in the Holiday Inn North, to say hello and collect your exclusive button badge that we are giving out at the event to celebrate our attendance. Don't forget to turn into Twitter to keep up to date of whats happening. Unfortunately i won't be able to update my blog but i can "tweet!". Right.. i better get back to work. I'm working on something a little different this week and will unveil it to you all on Friday. What could the surprise be? Well, its a little different to horses and much, much older. Puzzled? Tune in on Friday!
Becky :)
2nd July 2009:
Morning :) Today i'm going to share with you another sneak preview of a mid year item and this time, its a product that we've influenced! Breyers Classic horsebox. It features: Hooks to hang your riding tack and a ladder to reach roof deck, two stalls with two rear storage compartments below, rear Dutch doors with fold down ramp, outside storage holds all 8 pieces of fencing, troughs that snap in for feeding, roof opens to reveal an observation deck with TV, visors to block the sun, adjustable mirrors, dashboard with sliding steering wheel and GPS, two fronts seats with seat belts that snap closed for safety, seats swivel in two directions and have storage pouches, rear seat converts to a bed, fold-down stairs and chrome hubcaps, and a pop-up table and a side cup holder.
It not like a traditional horsebox but its something the Classic range is currently missing. Maybe we should re-introduce our Utterly Horses Classic scale horsebox from 2006. Hmmm...
Becky :)
1st July 2009 (Mid Afternoon)
Gosh, its busy today... new items coming in left, right and center!! The Flamenco set also arrived today and its gorgeous! I might have to have one of these to add to my collection. A real life picture is shown, right.
"In the Andalucia region of southern Spain, the tradition of flamenco dancing is rivaled only by the tradition of breeding fine Andalusian horses. Steeped in romance and fueled with passion, the flamenco is the quintessential Spanish dance form, tracing its roots to the Moorish, Jewish, and gypsy cultures. Like the flamenco dancers, Andalusian horses have been known for centuries for their grace, power, and beauty. Given their royal bearing, it is no surprise that they are also the mount of kings--and that they excel at classical dressage. Breyer' new Flamenco set celebrates both traditions with style. Limited edition of 2,500 pieces"
1st July 2009 (Afternoon!): Its hottin' up here in the office. Not only is it hot temperature wise but Fire the model has just arrived too! Fire, the third model in the Ethereal Series, is an impressive model loaded with tons of details! I quickly snapped a picture of him, right and more images can be found on his product page here. WoW, he is definately one that will be joining the UH teams collection of models within the office!! Becky

This program gives Breyer collectors the opportunity to submit their concepts for a dream model and then vote on the results. What could be more fun? Sergeant is a silvery dapple grey with dark points. Created on the Brown Sunshine mold #484, Sergeant is the result of a winning contest submission from Susan Newcomb of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin and is 10th in the series". Right i better get back to work, although its gloriously sunny outside- maybe i can move my desk outside temporaily?! Becky :)
30th June 2009:
Morning. Here is another sneaky peak of an upcoming model: Secretariat. "Ask anyone to name the world's most famous horse and the answer will most likely be Secretariat. His true story is still the stuff of legends. His astonishing 31-length victory in the Belmont Stakes, accomplished after winning the first two jewels of the Triple Crown, has yet to be repeated. In the Kentucky Derby, Secretariat set a speed record of 1:59 2/5, and he captured the Preakness Stakes with ease. Secretariat was the son of Bold Ruler out of Somethingroyal. Known as "Big Red", the large, beautifully conformed chestnut ran in the blue and white checkered colors of Meadow Stables. Secretariat has been a past model and this is the first time he has been released on the Smarty Jones mould". Stay tuned for more sneaky peaks tomorrow. Becky :)
